Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: June 2026
The WECAN Alumni Network is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. As a resource connected to a public school, we treat accessibility as a requirement, not an afterthought.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the technical standard referenced by ADA Title II for state and local government websites. Accessibility was built into this site from its first version, including:
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading order and page landmarks.
- A "skip to main content" link and full keyboard operability.
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
- Color combinations checked to meet AA contrast ratios.
- Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images.
- Form fields with clear labels and error messaging.
Ongoing effort
Accessibility is never "finished." Because alumni content is added over time, our publishing process is designed to keep new content accessible — for example, by requiring descriptive text for photos. We test with automated tools and manual keyboard and screen-reader checks.
